Plumbing In A Fridge

The new fridge models have water filtration and they require a plumber to connect the water line. Here’s what is involved.

  • The first step is to connect the refrigerator’s water supply line to the existing water source. This typically involves tapping into an existing water line, such as a nearby sink supply line or the main water supply line. A shutoff valve may be installed to control the water flow to the refrigerator.
  • The water line is then run from the water source to the refrigerator. It is important to ensure that the water line is properly secured and does not have any kinks or bends that could restrict water flow.
  • If your refrigerator has a built-in water filter, it needs to be properly installed. The filter is typically located near the back of the refrigerator or inside the refrigerator compartment.
  • Connecting the filter to the the water line. This connection may involve using compression fittings or push-to-connect fittings, depending on the type of water line and filter system.
  • Testing the water supply and check for any leaks and check that it flows through the water dispenser. Run the water to flush out any air or impurities that may be present in the system.

At Downie Plumbing and Gas, our experienced plumbers can assist you with the installation of your refrigerator water filter, ensuring a seamless integration with your plumbing system.
